Tax queries 559 views 3 replies

Dear All ,

One of my NRI friend earned Long term capital gain from sale of mutual fund units. LTCG is Rs.1.5 lakhs. Bank has deducted Rs.46000 towards TDS u/s 195 @ 30.9%. He do not have any other income.

My question is can he claim income tax refund ? If yes , how he can do so? Does he required to appoint somebody as his representative? Pls guide. What other things I should keep in mind while filing his return. Thanks in advance.

Income Tax Refund can be claimed by getting the ITR filed from a CA.
Devendra is that important to fill the return by a CA???? Can any other tax consultant do not make it?????? Can u tell me where its any written documents of your said?????
If that NRI is capable, he can file his own return of income. He can even rely on a CA or tax consultant who will do it for him for about Rs. 500 - Rs. 3000. The cost depends on the amount of work and also his various source of income.
