I am living in Banagalore and paying some amount in House rent. My family is not living with me. My family is living in Delhi and they are paying some amount of House rent and they are totally dependent on me. I only pay there house rent. Can I apply my family house rent as a part of HRA exemption or not. If not, is there any other clause in income tax in which I can get benefit of this. Please help

No ajay it is compulsory for you to stay in that house for hra benifits
Mr ajay why are you paying own a/c house rent. you have rent paid not own a/c. you have rent paid who want to claim HRA Examption. then your family memeber have exampted.

Thanks for your reply but i did not get the clear information. Actually i am living in a rented house in bangalore. My family is living in delhi and they are also living in a rented house. I pay rent for both the houses as i am only member earning in my family. So my question is can i claim for HRA exemption by submitting HRA documents of both the houses or not.
S.10(13A) any special allowance specifically granted to an assessee by his employer to meet expenditure actually incurred on payment of rent (by whatever name called) in respect of residential accommodation occupied by the assessee, to such extent as may be prescribed having regard to the area or place in which such accommodation is situate and other relevant considerations
You can claim exemption only i.r.o that accomodation wherein you are staying
