IN THIS CONNECTION I HAVE A DOUBT REGARDING SUBMISSION OF DOCUMENTS FOR CLAIMING HRA EXEMPTION. IT SAYS RS. 3000/- IS THE CUT OFF LIMIT.IS THIS LIMIT IS MEANT FOR THE MONTHLY RENT PAYABLE OR THE HRA AMOUNT RECEIVED FROM THE AMPLOYER. KINDLY CONFIRM. Can you clear my two doubts.

One, why two different definitions of salary applied (1 while calculating rent paid minus 10% and another while calculating 50%)

Second, is it 100% true that we can not claim HRA exemption if rent is paid to spouse (House in the name of spouse).
