How to pay tax on STCG ?

Hi All,

I am a salaried employee and have some STCG for which I want to pay tax. How do I pay tax online through income tax site ? Which Challan number to select and what options in that challan ?

you can pay through online tax payment facility from tin-nsdl.com, if you have online payment facility with your bank. or you can ask your c.a.to pay on your behalf.

calculate your estimated income for the AY 2010-11 [FY 2009-10] and pay (if requried) your advance tax as per the provisions of Income Tax Act.

you can pay your advance tax in three installments. Ist on 15 sep, 2nd on 15Dec and 3rd on 15Mar.

Use Challan No. ITNS280.

You pay ur taxes in online if ur bank have that facility. the challan no u going to select as ITNS 280. for u give Adanvce Tax or Self assessment tax and aslo

You quate your PAN as correctly and also select AY very carefully.

I went to this site https://onlineservices.tin.nsdl.com/etaxnew/tdsnontds.jsp and selected Challan no. 280.

I am paying tax for STCG for April 2008 (AY 2009-2010) .

Please let me know which of the following options should be selected:

1 . (0020)INCOME-TAX ON COMPANIES(CORPORATION TAX) or (0021)INCOME-TAX (OTHER THAN COMPANIES) . Which one should I select ?

2. Type Of Payment

Type Of Payment*
(100)ADVANCE TAX	(102)SURTAX
(300)SELF ASSESSMENT TAX	(106)TAX ON DISTRIBUTED PROFITS
(400)TAX ON REGULAR ASSESSMENT	(107)TAX ON DISTRIBUTED INCOME
