How to do ledger scrutiny in sap?

You can view the ledgers on screen in SAP either account code wise of group wise. For each trasaction you can explode and go to voucher level details when you are veiwing the trasaction on screen. But if you are more comfortable with excel, entire ledger or groups ofledgers can be exported to excel after which you can do the scrutiny. But the disadvantage is you will not be able to drill down to voucher/approval levels in excel. What I suggest you do initially is export the ledgers to excel, identify the trasactions which you want to analyse and then do an onscreen review in SAP. Ths will save time as drilling down each txn in SAP is timeconsuming.
