How to Cope With Repeating a Grade

others 362 views 1 replies

Steps

  1. Determine if you don't already know why you are repeating the grade. Did you go to class? Did you pay attention? Write a list determining all the factors that may have lead up to your downfall and decide how you will prevent a repeat of these mistakes in the future.
  2. Look in the mirror and promise yourself this will never happen again, realize you may have made a mistake and that you can over come it.
  3. This is the hardest step ever. Drop your friends that contributed to this -- Eliminate all the 'enablers' in your life-- people who actively lead you astray or encourage unsuccessful behavior.
  4. Don't let your brain rot over the summer, keep up with current events. Give yourself homework. If you have any major academic failings, get a tutor to help you catch up.
  5. Stop being a slacker. Make an effort to improve every aspect of your life. It takes a successful attitude to become a success. Wake up on time, get in shape, take up a sport, join a club. Stop procrastinating-- this applies to everything you do.
  6. Last but not least, don't give up! So you're repeating... no one is perfect! you have been given an opportunity to go back and fix the mistakes you have made in the past. Forget about what other people might say or think, devote yourself to making significant changes.

Tips

  • It helps to work with your teachers and get to know them.
  • Do your homework and go to class!
  • Take notes and try to get with a good crowd this year.
  • Take it seriously.
  • Failure is a fact of life, something that we all must face sometimes - you're never alone. Stand strong and never give up.
  • Don't let it happen again

Warnings

  • This is only intended for those who are repeating for bad behavior/drug use etc. but anyone can take tips from it.
  • Don't let history repeat itself; always remember: you can make history or be it... your call.
  • Well, you may be afraid of being made fun of and you probably will be. Your friends may be considered more mature, and you are with the babies. Although that may be true, you just have to avoid anyone who says that. Don't let people drag you down. This is a warning and a guarantee that people will talk behind your back and say "That was the kid who repeated!" Avoid them and find a cool friend for the year that you can hang out with and sit with at lunch.
  • There can be some advantages to being older than your yearmates. Stand up for yourself.
