How to clear outstanding tax demand

Tax queries 1680 views 5 replies

Hello,

I have two outstanding income tax demands appearing against my account.

I have paid for them long ago via Challan 280 (Regular Assessment). I had also intimated with proof of payment via a letter to IT dept long ago...but they are still appearing in my account as outstanding.

How do i remove this outstanding? What should be done?

Thanks

Meet your jurisdictional AO with documentary evidence of your payments.

Dear Ravi

(If Income Tax return is filled Online)

Please check your 26AS first and if the amount is shown there then call at CPC-Bangalore mentioning the details.

They will solve the problem by updating your a/c.

(If filled mannually)

Then meet the A.O personally with the details.

Hello,

This outstanding demand is of many years ago when efling was not there i think. It was also paid immediately.

To meet AO.. can i just go and meet? How do i take an appointment? Last time i went, they just asked me to leave letter/proof at the reception and go away. And, nothing happened after that.

How does this practically work?

Thanks

There is no need to take prior appointment you can visit your ITO and meet him personally and show him the proof of payment of demand. You may also prepare a rectification application and attach the proof with it.
