How long we can keep bank account of a dead person

would like to know whether is there any ceiling on duration to keep the bak account of a dead personif the account is single  and can it be operated  by the nominee  who holds the debit card ..

 if it is a joint account   can the joint holder   keep the account alive and operate the same  

if yes what is the maximum period upto which it can be operated.

No, time limit fixed, the legal heir has to inform about the demise to bank authority as early as possible.

after demise of assessee there shud not happen transaction in deceased bank account. It shud be closed at the earliest sat within 6months from the date if deargtof the deceased assessee
