How it long term capital loss on rsu computed

For RSUs (shares not listed in India), how is long term capital loss computed? For example if the FMV on the date of vesting (2008) was $17 and the price after 3 years (2011) on sale was $12 - How is long term capital loss computed (with indexation or without indexation)?

Under the income tax Asset which are held for a period of 3 yrs or more are long term assets and on their sale indexation benefit accrues automatically unless specifically denied like in the case of sale of debentures other than capital indexed , slump sale etc.
