Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies how to claim tax deductions for housing loan interest when you and your spouse are joint owners. You can claim your proportionate share of the interest paid, based on your ownership stake. If your spouse has no taxable income, you might be able to claim up to £200,000, supported by relevant case laws, as per the loan application.

You can claim only your part of share on loan amount by looking into share of ownership.
Only 50% or proportionate share of co applicants can be claimed..

If your spouse has no taxable income then you may consider upto 2lacs with the supporting of case laws
% As per loan application may be claimed without ambiguity
