Help w.r.t interview after a career break

Hi,

I am a married woman who had taken a career break after my daughter was born. It has been 4-5 years since i have worked now.Now i want to get back to the industry. Last week i attended an interview & i reallised that i could not answer a simple question on accounting though i am a CA Final - 1 grp cleared +B.Com . I want hep w.r. t to what i need to start with to get back on track w.r.t  the subject of accounting , finance, etc.Pls recommend some books, topics for me to study & face the interview. My condition is so bad that i have even lost track of statutory  payment due dates ,etc. Please guide.

Hi Rashmi,

Its quiet normal that after a break of 5  years, you will find difficulty to get back.

Moreover there is nothing to panic, the first thing what you need to do is be confident and believe in your own ablility. .

Next important step is you need to build up yourself to come upto date.

Start looking at accounting standards on ICAI website , look at various updates available on the caclubindia website.Lot of information on TDS rates, due dates etc are avaliable. Look into Caalley.com. This will help you to bring yourself upto date. Do visit the incometaxindia,.com site for income tax updates.

Probably once you update yourself with  your hardwork you can be upto date. Last but not the least develop your excel skills which is a  must for any Finance person.

I am sure you will be okay with in a 1-2 months.
