I am working as an Accounts Officer in a Manufacturing Co.

I am appearing for PE2 in May 2006 but for only One group due to lack of time for preparing for both the groups.

Anyone please suggest me which of groups I should appear i.e 1st or the 2nd Group. Which is relatively easy to clear as I find accounts vast and slightly tough in 1st Group and Costing / f.m. is somewhat similar.

I want to clear either of the group selected in this VERY ATTEMPT.

Kindly help me select a scoring and a relative easy group to clear and also please suggest the way to clear it in flying colours.

Please spend some time for helping me as your valuable advice can change my life FOR EVER and I will be indebted to you throughout my life.

hi!
it would b better if u giv both d grps 2gether as u wldb benifited by it! one can easily pass in 2nd grp as costing is much more simpler! if u r thnikng2 appear 4 any1 grp giv ur try 1st 4 1st grp coz 4d next grp u wld b much more relieved!but still i wld suggest 2giv both d grps 2gethr!as u can pass by combination of d marks!evn m pe2 student so can advice u on dis!

Since you say you have less time and want to write on group only I suggest go for group two.
The truth is you need focus and doing work and study at same time will be tough for you.So you must be prepared to fail in this attempt also (I hope this dosent happen) I am suggesting you group 2 because it contains a subject like Income Tax Assessment Year 2006-2007 and it will remain same for november attempt also. Thus in case you fail to clear this time you dont need to put more effort in Nov attempt also you dont need to buy new book for tax same book will do.
Please dont mistake me as I dont want you to fail.
However in case you are confident then go for Group 1. I can only suggest but the final decision is yours

Thanks both of you Nisha and Skanda S. on your valuable advice and suggestions.

I would be grateful if you or anyone else could tell if only study material and suggested answers ( past ) would be sufficient for study and practice for the exams.

Could people who are already in C.A. Final guide me on what it takes to clear C.A. PE2 Exams as regarding time devotion, study methodlogy, plans, implementation, revisions, books?

Since you have very little time left at ur disposal, I would advise you to appear for Group 1 as it has only 2 subjects to be studied very thoroughly viz Accounts and Corporate Laws. Auditing is a subject which requires working knowledge and an overall knowledge of all subjects comprised in the CA Curriculum.

Accounts is a very vast subject but a systematic approach to this subject can help one to clear and even score in this paper.Reference to the scanner can help one to understand the topics on which questions are frequently asked and accordingly concentrate of those topics rather than going through the entire syllabus. The same thing goes with the accounting standards as well.

Corporate laws too is a very scoring subject. If u see there are 8 topics in Business laws of which studying ane 6 would be enough as there are optional questions at every stage.

As far as Corporate laws goes studying ne 3 topics out of 4 would do. One shud note that topic 1 in the corporate laws consists of atleast 15 marks which makes up for almost half the total marks on corporate laws.
