Mr Piyush is right... 8-9 hours should help you alot...

What I feel is do not study just to clear your exams. When you study you gain knowledge... You study more you gain more knowledge..... So there is no point in restricting yourself with a time frame. If you are able and can study 24 hours a day then why not... No loss but super profit.

 In my view, rather giving the quantitative improtance to studies, look for the qualitative study. It doesnot matter how nuch you study.. What matters is that how much you understand. Only sitting and reading for hours and hours will not help. So better focus on the efficiency of your studies and try to complete the syllabus sufficiently before exams so that you can also revise it well. Now how many hours to study daily is upto you. 

CA course is not  quantitative one but its a qualitative i mean to say the institute not test the students depending on the number of hours work but the institute sees hw much u had understand the concept.ICAI twists the question & check the student so better read carefully b4 ticking or marking ur answer.

You may study as much time you can afford in a day.
