Half day during aricleship period

Hi,

I am doing my CA Articleship.My articleship timings are 11-7 (Mon to Fri) and 11-6 on Saturdays.For my CA coaching classes I have been taking half days for Saturdays i.e. I am working from 11-2 and my firm deducts my pay accordingly while granting me such half days.But I want to know whether such half days will be considered as full working days while counting the days of my CA articleship? or will they be considered as holidays or half days?

As per the Institute , articles are supposed to be working for not more than 35 hours a week ! but many articles work for about 48-50 hrs!!.

Thanks God we have to work 7 hours a day with sat & sun off ! Exactly 35 hours a week :-)

Yes, there is rule of 35 hours in a week and in case of increase, the firm have to pay according to normal wage rates for the extra hours in normal cases. But sadly these rules are on paper only and in reality most of articles works 8 or more hours daily as you said and they affraid to go against their principal due to various known reasons. And further, we all know what happens in September month.

Now in your case, you are working half day on Saturday and your firm is deducting payment for that day. Its all depend on your firm's policy whether they are giving you a full day attendance or a half day attandance. It will treat accordingly.

(Its my opinion, let wait for other answers also. And do remember articleship period counts on day basis no one count it on hourly basis)
