GST under my personal name

If I register for GST under my personal name as a sole proprietor, can I issue GST invoices in the name of my business using the same GST number, without registering a separate company?

For example, if my name is Ram and my business name is ABC Studio, can I use my GST number (registered under “Ram”) to issue invoices under the name ABC Studio?

Quick Summary
As a sole proprietor, your business and personal identity are legally the same. This means you can use your personal GST number to issue invoices under your business name, even if it's not listed as a 'Trade Name' on your GST registration. Simply ensure both your business name and GST number are clearly stated on all invoices for compliance.

As a sole proprietor your business is not conidered a separte legal entity from you. So, you can use your GST number registered under your name ("Ram" in this case) to issue invoices for your business ('ABC Studio"). Just make sure your business name ("AB Studio") is mentioned on the invoices along with your GSTIN (GST number) for clarity and compliance.

Thank you for the reply.

So, one can issue invocies in the name of ABC Studio even if it is not mentioned in the "Trade Name" in GST registration. Basically, both Trade Name and Legal Name is "RAM".
