Gst registration for export of services

Import / Export 192 views 2 replies

Hello All,

I have a query regarding registration under GST.

My wife does web research and data updation for a US based company and earns Rs. 40-45,000/- (USD 600 approx) per month, . My CA said she has to get herself registered under gst for providing such services to her client.

Need clarity on registration under GST for her if she falls less than 20 lacs turnover.

Please revert asap.

Export of service is inter-state supply, though zero rated. under GST a person making any Inter-State taxable supply, shall also get himself registered irrespective of the amount of Supply. [Section 24]

Thanks sir for your reply.

Is it mandatory to register in GST, as the annual income from the services provided to the client doesnt exceed 5-6lac p.a
can you please explain " (xi) every person supplying online information and database access or retrieval services from a place outside India to a person in India, other than a registered person; "

My wife does provide web research and data updation from india to USA based company, so she will fall under the above category. If yes, she will have to pay and claim GST. incase she falls in the category where she has not to pay GST, she will have to file monthly returns.

Kindly check and revert
