The issue appears to be related to a temporary portal functionality or caching behavior on the GST portal, where the return period (April 2026–27) is automatically selected after login and users face difficulty changing the tax period.
You may try the following practical solutions:
- Clear browser cache and cookies or open the portal in Incognito/Private mode.
- Use a different browser (preferably Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge updated to the latest version).
- Log out completely and re-login after closing all GST portal tabs.
- Avoid using saved bookmarks for specific return pages; instead navigate through Services → Returns → Returns Dashboard and manually select the required financial year and period.
- If the issue persists, it is likely a system-side glitch due to heavy portal traffic or backend updates.
In case the problem continues, raise a ticket through GST Helpdesk (Self-Service Portal) or contact GSTN support, as such issues generally get resolved from the backend. - Setindiabiz
