Am staying with my parents (house in the name of parents) in Ernakulam district and am having a residential building on my name at Calicut district.
Can I use the building at calicut for commercial purposes? If yes, should I change building status to commercial building including electricity, building tax etc.
You have to visit to your local authority office where your building is situated in Calicut district ( Municipal corporation) and confirm to change status of building.
For commercial purposes GST applicable. even for residential purpose if tenant is registered under GST then GST applicable under RCM.
