Quick Summary
GST is generally not applicable to rent received from residential properties, as it's exempt under current regulations. However, if the rental income is from a commercial property, GST at a rate of 18% will apply, regardless of how the payment is received (e.g., current account, savings account, or cash). This applies if the property owner's business involves renting property and the rental amount exceeds the exemption threshold.
If the rental income from Commercial Property then GST applicable @ 18%. weather if it's received through current account or Savings account or cash**...
If the business of the assessee is renting of property and rental amount is exceeding the exemption limit, then GST is applicable @ 18%. Renting of residential property is exempted from GST
