GST input tax credit query and IGST

ITC / Input 176 views 5 replies

Why use igst instead of sgst and cgst

1. where to show supply to other states and what is IGST? ( i am from west bengal)

2. I have purchased item from a registered seller who has only filed gstr 1 till now but not 3b . I file on a monthly basis so the transaction was showing but ITC was not available . I have put the itc values by myself and claimed itc . Now balance is showing in my cgst and sgst . Have I done anything wrong . It yes then how to correct it when my supplier files gstr 3b and I get double input tax credit?

As per provison of the law it is necessary to ustilise IGST before using CGST & SGST.

In GSTR-3B & GSTR-1 IGST has specific columns . It is not state specific.

See Your supplier shall file GSTR-3B in order for you to file a claim of ITC , However you shall not claim prior to filing of GSTR-3B of your supplier. Considering the amount you may ignore or correspond with supplier and get his GSTR-3B filed.

Answer to question 1
a)It has to be supplied to other states then it's an interstate gst transaction.
b)the supplier must also file his returns and the amount must not remain unpaid.
c) But the figures must appear automatically.
A payment voucher from supplier , may keep for ur accounting purpose. It will not affect ur businesses.
