I have taken GST in July 2017 but till date I have not filed a single return. can I cancel without filing of return. because my business has gone down. no turn over into my bank account. pls confirm operate us.

Not possible to cancel registration without filing the returns till the date of cancelling period.
If you have no transactions, then you can file nil returns.
Even if you submit a request for cancellation, it will not be processed until your clear your liabilities and file returns.

yes Mr Vinod is correct , As once you have registered in GST , even though you have not done single penny business , but you R are liable to file Nil Return ,. the No. cannot be cancelled until you file all your Returns.

Filling Return under GST is mandatory. If there is no sales/business transaction in a particular month, then you are required to file NIL GST RETURN.
Since you haven't filed your Returns, since registration, you have to now file all your Returns with applicable Late Fees and then apply for Cancellation of Registration.
Hence, you have to clear all your Liabilities with the Government and then proceed for Cancellation.

If we show the closure of business from back date, the system should not ask for returns after that date... The GST software is new........Will take time to get matured. Till then, file the fees and penalties.
