Gifted property but i was gifted indirectly

Respected Experts ,

my father purchased a property in my wife's name after my marriage in 1988  so that we would be settle down there and start a new journey  , but he did not give any written statement or he did not rigister that property as a gift deed . now he is no more . only my family members and my brothers know this fact . now how to show that property as a gift given by my father while filing Income Tax . that property is not purchased by me , since i have no record or any statement except my family members . otherwise IT will consider that property as mine and earned by me . please help me
