Fy 2012-2013 filing is possible now? got a compliance notice

My mother has got a Compliance notification in her email address for not filing her FY 2012-2013 & FY 2013-2014 IT returns. She was asked to submit an online response before Dec 15, 2015. She is a government employee and had missed out filing her returns for these years. There is no additional income and she has got her Form 16 details for both FYs.

Through e-filing I have filed her returns ITR1 for FY 2013-2014 under section 139(4) and e-verified the same through AADHAAR.

When I e-filed for FY 2012-2013 (the Option for selecting year is available in the portal), at the last submit stage it said that the "end date for filing is over". My questions are

i) Will the government provide an opportunity for e-filing FY 2012-2013 returns in the future? I heard from a few friends that 2011-2012 was extended.

ii) If not, why is the option for FY 2012-2013 open in the portal?

iii) How do I respond to the NMS Compliance status? And if I get a notice what should I do?

Thanks in advance.

You have to prepare your return and letter and meet AO, if he accepts, you can file return manually.

Yes you can file upto March 2016.

For FY 2013-14 you can file upto March 31 2016 online.

For Fy 2012-13 you have to file manually to AO in response to the notice.

You can comply by attaching the completed XL sheet or java file to the email ID given in the

"know your Jurisdiction AO"  OR physically submit the same and take acknowledgement.

You can file on line if you have received the notice for not filing for the year 2012/13. U/s 142(1).Pls read 142 section then decide it's applicable for your mother's. Or follow the above suggestions.
The permission is to be taken by Commissioners or principal commissioner's Income tax depending on the income. If he or she is satisfied with the reason for not able to file in due time then they may permit. No AO has direct powers the GO is available somewhere in incometaxindia.govt.in website.

simply file the return manually making a note on top giving reference of the notice received.

CBDT CIRCULAR NO 9/2015 DATED 9TH JUNE 2015 GO THRU IT

Sir - notice is not under Section 142. She got an email under Non-filing monitoring system. If the notice comes then may be I will file online. Otherwise I will try manual filing as has been mentioned by others. Thanks

As mentioned by everyone, will try to manually file with the AO. If he/she accepts ok. Else will see if they send a notice and then file later.

Thanks all.

Sir, in that case hope there would be no fine levied or any other issues she will get into. This is No refund and nill tax to be paid case. Dont want to get into trouble later by choosing 143(1) voluntarily.  checking again since someone had mentioned that Compliance notice is different from 143(1) notice.
