Form no 16 for govt. pensioners

Efiling 13275 views 2 replies

Dear sir,

I am writing this letter for the benefit of lakhs of pensioners who , eventhough not having income above taxable limit, continue to file income tazx return even after retirement . Till last year I filed my return myself in paper form. This year I  would like to file it in  Efiling portal.

In ITR 1 , under Part B ,     B1   is "Income from salary/pension (ensure to fill Sch TDS1)"  ; they are asking us to fill details from form No 16.  After retirement  who will issue the form No 16?  Is it necessary to get it for e filing the tax return. Is it possible to skip it ?

I am 64  yrs old central government pensioner.

kindly help me in resolving my problem at the earliest with your guiding reply

If tds is deducted on such sum then the deductor is liable to issue tds certificates, whether it is employer or bank (if tds on pension is deducted by bank)

If no tds is deducted then you can pay it as an self assesment tax
