Dear Amrish ur answer is wrong. if 45 new stations r added then each station has to issue 45 more tickets and not 46 tickets as asked in d ques. a station canot issue a ticket for a journey to itself. as per calculation, answer shud be:

A station can issue total no tickets equal to total No. of Station - 1 since it can not issue a ticket for a journey to itself.

therefore,  (N + X - 1) - (N - 1) = 46 solving the above u will get N = 1, & X = 46
