Quick Summary
This discussion explores why IRCTC charges Goods and Services Tax (GST) on train tickets, despite Entry 17 of the relevant exemption list suggesting that transportation for passengers by railway, other than first class and AC coaches, should be exempt. Participants are questioning the 5% GST applied to AC and First Class fares, seeking clarification on the discrepancy.

GST is levied @ 5% on the total
passenger fare of AC and First class.

I think the ticket was booked under AC class. So GST is applicable in that case.

Have you book the tickets other than AC class ?????
Which tickets u have booked? AC or first class or other?
