CWA institute mentioned the areas of work, where you can get eligibility for practical trng exemption..

here it is..

Please check whether the organisation in which you are working or worked comes under the following..

When can I be exempted from undergoing practical training of 3years?

You will get exemption from undergoing practical training equivalent to your

working experience in the Organizations (whose annual turnover is Rs.5 crores or more)  listed below provided you are

working/worked in the recognized areas listed below:

Organizations recognized for Training: (i) Central/State Government /

Semi-Government / Public Utilities (ii) Banks and other Financial Institutions

(iii) Insurance Company (iv) Public Sector Unit (v) Public Limited Company (vi)

Private Limited Company (vii) Information Technology Sector (viii) KPO / BPO

(ix) Stock Exchange (x) Universities, Management Institutes and any other

educational institute (xi) Limited Liability Partnership Firm (xii) Management

Consultancy Firms (xiii) NGO (xiv)Co-operative societies engaged in Banking

or Manufacturing and (xiii) Any other institution as approved by the Council

from time to time

Recognized areas for Training: (i) Cost Accounting (ii) Financial Accounting

(iii) Financial Management (iv) Auditing (v) Regulatory compliances (vi) Direct

Taxation (vii) Indirect Taxation (viii) Corporate Laws, Industrial Laws and

Commercial Laws (ix) Systems Analysis and Information Technology

(including ERP system) (x) Project Management (xi) Banking Operations (xii)

Accounts, Costing, Taxation, Management and subjects covered in ICWAI

Syllabus (other than visiting faculty) (xvi) Management Consultancy Services

(xvii) Any other areas approved by the Council from time to time.

If I am not working in the recognized areas for training but working in an recognized Organization(s), will I get the exemption from practical training?

but not full period of 3 years. You will get exemption equivalent to your

working experience not exceeding 2 years and 6 months. You have to either

gain working experience/or undergo training for a period of six months in the recognized areas of training in your Organization itself or in other recognized

Organization(s) as listed above.

Hope you may get help from this..

thanks for the reply. I have read that but I have not understood this clause " If I am not working in the recognized areas for training but working in an recognized Organization(s), will I get the exemption from practical training?

but not full period of 3 years. You will get exemption equivalent to your

Can u please explain it?

Yes, you gets the exemption. The meaning of above line is you have a total experience of 5 (2+3 years). But as per ICWAI rules, you will get maximum exemption of training for only 2.5 years, even though you have more experience. 2.5 yrs is the maximum exemption rule in cwa. So for balance 6months you need to work as per the training scheme of icwai. Hope you got the point. Further, for availing exemption, you need to apply with all relevant documents within the prescribed period after you registers as a cwa inter student. Assumed you have completed your graduation.

I just need some clarification on the duration of the course. I am a graduate so I can get direct entry to Intermediate. So does that mean, 18 months for Intermediate, 18 months for Final and 6 months for training (since I have 5 years work ex) which means total duration of 3 years and 6 months?

Agreed with Krishna,

why  is 18 months for inter??, you can write Dec'12 exams, if you register on or before 5th june'12, and if you send answered testpapers within 10th Aug'12..

after passing inter you need a gap of 9 months for final exams..

Regd practical trng, you can start it just after Registration..,

I have another question as well. I had earlier thought of pursuing CS as I am already an MBA finance and awaiting my final results. But after going through some online posts I felt it is better to pursue CWA to augment the value of my resume. Hence I have changed my mind and decided to take up CWA. Now I would like to know if one can pursue CWA while working. I am currently working in the finance dept of a company and do not wish to leave my job. Will there be a problem in the future if there are requirements of trainings, seminars etc...?

Agreed with Harini.

In my opinion, you can sure maintain work and CWA course,

you need to attend GD/BC programs twice for Inter, means just two days.. probably on sundays, and dates will be informed by Regional council,

and my suggestion is, dont change your mind because of some posts, as every profession has its own value, you choose which suits best for you, and make decision depending upon which subjects you are interested in..

thanks Harini but what about computer training? how long will it take? Also what do you suggest CS or CWA for an MBA in finance? And I am trying to find out the admission and exam dates for CWA. can you please give me the link? thanks

You can still work along with your study. But you have to do study from day one with systematic scheduled plan. Then cracking it will be easy. You have both oral/postal mode of coaching. For oral you need to attend mostly evening/mrng classes (usually classes at branches will be held out of office hours). If you are comfortable with this mode, then prefer oral, else choose postal mode n write test papers and submit the same in your nearest chapter office. Regarding attending seminars/GDs, it depends on the branch you wish to join. At some branches, even without attending the same wont be problem if you have chosen oral coaching and if you have maintained required class attendance. At other branches, you may need to attend those, which does not take much time you can take leave. Computer training is must and you need to attend it.

This is official website link you gets all details there. Go through FAQ column.

can you tell me where is the computer training held? I reside in mumbai and are batches conducted on weekends?

sorry, still I need to explore it.., dont know, how comp trng program will be done.. i am also waiting for Krishna's reply...

I have one more question. I am mba in finance and working in fin & acc dept as mis exec. I am 29 years old. Does it make sense to do CWA at this age or for that matter CS? Which would be better considering my profile? thanks
