@ Anurag

Did you sit for all of the papers in the group?? If you were absent then then you are not entitled to exemption

Bec u r not allowed to take another exemtion, if ur result is fail...

@ rajgopal

but why. is there any rule?

EXEMPTION YOU GOT EARLIER IN MAY 2012 WILL LAST FOR NOV 2013

TILL NOV 2013 NO FURTHER EXEMPTION ALLOWED FOR THE SAME GROUP

ALSO TO AVAIL THE EXEMPTION YOU NEED TO SIT IN ALL PAPERS

IN YOUR CASE YOU HAVE AVAILED EXEMPTION IN NOV 2013 SO YOU CANNOT AVAIL MORE EXEMPTION LATTER

NOW I AM AFRAID TO TELL YOU THAT NEITHER OF YOUR SUBJECT IS EXEMPT AND YOU NEED TO WRITE ALL 4 PAPERS OF GP1 AND 3 PAPERS OF GP 2

Dear Anurag, no exemption sign will be shown against the paper for which u got exemption in May 2012 since ur exemption is exhausted in Nov 2013(exemption can be carried forward only upto 3 attempts). Exemption sign will be shown only against the papers in which u scored above 60 in a previous attempt..No such sign would be shown against a paper which u wrote in the current attempt & in which u scored 60+ marks. Therefore there wont be any exemption sign against law paper although u are entitled to exemption. U will see the exemption sign against law paper only in the next attempt(May 2014).

So dont worry..U ARE ENTITLED TO EXEMPTION.

N.B.:U get exemption in law only because u have already exhausted ur earlier exemption. For example if u had got 60+ in Nov 2012, u wudnt get exemption in both the subjects in Nov 2013..u wud hv to choose one among the papers in which u got 60+.

@ jithin

thanks for hope.

Sir g is there any announcement ?

i got exemption in tax in may 12 and i got only 60 in law this time(nov 13). Can i avail the law exemption in furher exams.

S u can avail law exemption..but u lost exemption in tax. Study well nd clear dis time. All d best

Mr. Anurag, if you got exemption in Taxation paper in May 2012 attempt, it means you had the benefit of exemption for the next 3 attempts i.e., November 2012, May 2013 and November 2013. With this your exemption in taxation paper is exhausted.

So, this means, if you scored above 60 in any paper while availing exemption in tax, you are not entitled for another exemption. Hence, though you secured 60 marks in law this attempt but you will not be entitled for an exemption. You will have to appear for all the papers in May/June 2014 Examination. Sorry friend that’s the truth and provision as per Institutes regulation. Better luck in next attempt.

What are the rules regarding “exemption” and validity period?
 A candidate who has appeared in all the papers comprised in a group/unit and fails in
one or more papers comprised in that group/unit but secures a minimum of 60% of the
marks in any paper or papers of that group/unit shall be eligible for exemption in that
paper or papers in the next three following examinations.
 He shall be declared to have passed in that group/unit if he secures at one sitting a
minimum of 40% marks in each of the papers of that group/unit and a minimum of
50% of the total marks of all the papers of that group/unit including the paper/s in
which he had secured a minimum of 60% marks in the earlier examination.
 He/she shall not be eligible for any further exemption in the remaining paper(s) of that
group/unit until he/she has exhausted the exemption already granted to him in that
group/unit.
 The implications of the above paragraph are clarified below:

i. You must have appeared in all the papers of the group/unit.
ii. You must have failed in the group/unit and should have secured a
minimum of 60 marks in any paper/s of the group/unit.
iii. The exemption is automatic and will be found indicated in the
statement of marks issued by the Institute.
iv. An exemption is valid for three immediate succeeding exams and will
be carried forward automatically for the next three examinations.
v. A candidate shall be declared to have passed in a Group/unit, if he
secures at one sitting a minimum of 40 percent marks in each paper of
the Group/unit and a minimum of 50 percent marks in the aggregate of
all the papers of that group/unit. For the purpose of arriving at the
aggregate marks, 60 percent or more marks secured earlier will also be
taken into account.
vi. As long as exemption in one or more paper(s) of a group/unit, brought
forward from an earlier attempt is subsisting, no further exemption in
any paper in that group/unit will be given, even if one secures 60% or
more marks in any paper in that group/unit.

 The above rules relating to “Exemption” are common to all the exams, i.e., PCE,
IPCE, IPCE Units, ATE and Final, conducted by the Institute.
