07 January 2013I have a query regarding whether my company would be in central excise or not, our firm is contract manufacturer, means we manufacture product for other companies with their brand name, the turnover is not more than 1.3 crore, as we are manufacturer does excise effect us. Our firm is Surgi Aid Lifecare Pvt Ltd.
Regarding this query please guide me.

Depend upon the classification of goods. You have to manufacturing the goods of other brand name. The brand owner (principle manufacturer) turnover will count for SSI exemption. Now no need to registered with excise department upto the turnover of Rs. 1.5cr. After the SSI exemption, you will pay the duty or brand owner can pay the duty.
