dear reader..

i wanna make clear a query i have in my mind..

"is it compulsory to appear in all the papers of the group to get exemption in 1 subject?"

i am appearing in june exam for 2nd group with prepration for only ITSM.. so will i have to compulsorily appear in Cost and Tax to get exemption in ITSM.. what if i appear only for ITSM and get 60 marks.. will i not get exemption as i havent appeared for the other two?

Yes it is compulsory that to get exemption in a paper u have to attempt all the papers in that group and score atleast 30 in the other 2 papers only then if u get above 60 in IT & SM u will get exemption

i was in the same scenario in May 08, i had got 64 in accounts and luckily managed 35 and 33 in the other 2 hence i got exemption in A/CS

i would have to get 30 in other 2?? are you sure about this??

I think i had read it somewhere.. pl confirm it with institute

hi friend my friend attended in accounts exam he got 64 but he not attend rest of the paper. he unable to claim the exemption as per institute rules. so, u should appear in all the exam to get exemption

yes dear its compulsory to give all three papers of a group to avail the exemption, attempting all papers is benefial for u as u will able to experience the actual paper style  of those papers u dont want to give

Revati is rite...

attendence in full group is must...

1st sub = 60 + marks

rest papers should be 30+ ...

read 10 pages more u might get 40+ in the rest and as well clear the group remove all this blockage and just go and attempt using ur Common sense u will definately do well..

all the best take care..

above all is correct statements need not verify any where.. if u want to its there in the supplements that are with the exam form.

Regulation 37B (6) -

Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-regulations (1) to (5) of Regulation 37B of the Chartered Accountants Regulations 1988, a candidate who fails in one or more papers comprised in a group but secures a minimum of 60 per cent of the marks in any paper or papers of that group shall be eligible to appear at any one or more of the immediately next three following examinations in the paper or papers in which he secured less than 60 percent marks. He shall be declared to have passed in that group if he secures at one sitting a minimum of 40 percent marks in each of such papers and a minimum of 50 percent of the total marks of all the papers of that group including the paper or papers in which he had secured a minimum of 60 percent marks in the earlier examination referred to above. He shall not be eligible for any further exemption in the remaining paper(s) of that group until he has exhausted the exemption already granted to him in that group.

Hence, What Mr. Dashrath is trying to say is that where is the criteria for " 30 or more marks in other two or three subjects" leaving just get present in the exams. Is'nt it?

Please confirm with institute if u have doubts and really why do u want to appear and clear only 1 paper.. common sense says u put in more efforts and clear the group.. dude low aim is a crime...

:) , you caught the right thing... There is no criteria for minimum marks in other subjects, only, one has to present in the examination.

hey guys..

i called up the ICAI bhawan.. they said even if i get 0 in other two i'll get exemption.. i just haveto be present.. thanks a lot though.. its always nice to know there are people trying to help!!

hi frnd plz tel me can i get 40+ marks in itsm.

hai

appear for all the exams. if u feel that u can do it in ITSM then why not costing and tax? the amount of interest that u have shown towards ITSM can also be shown towards costing and tax then there is no looking back for u.

irrespective of what happens this attempt, rethink on ur strategy. ur goal is to pass and for that u need to clear all the paper. piecemeal approach would not help in the long run. be pragmatic. try to study all the subjects in a day ... this way ur confidence level after a certain duration would be pretty high and then u would try to score 60plus in all the papers. its a long and laborious process. but isnt there a saying which goes like this...
