The error usually appears in the City/Town/District and Pincode fields, which may be blank or set to zero.

To fix these, users need to enter their city, town, or district name and provide the correct pincode.

After filling these details, they should save the form and "proceed to validation".

Once corrected, the system will show “No error found”, resolving the issue.

Once corrections are made, validation becomes successful, and refund nomination works without errors.

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses a common ITR filing error where the system requires at least one character in a descriptive field, often appearing when 'Others' is selected in a dropdown. To fix this, users need to locate the specific field, which is usually found in sections like 'Other Sources of Income' or 'Deductions', and enter at least one character. After making the correction, save the form, validate section by section, and then proceed to calculate tax and create the JSON file.

Thanks for information...

Sir,

I encountered an error while validating my ITR-1 form. It has been displayed that Minimum One Characters are required under the field descripttion. Can you please guide me, how to validate this error.

regards,

@ A Prasannakumar

Avoid haste.

Validate each section and look for error messages to locate where the problem exists.

Then correct it and validate again.

Keep on doing this till each section Validation say OKAY

Finally go for calculate tax, create json etc etc.

This error means a section in your ITR form has an 'Others' or descripttive dropdown selected but the mandatory text descripttion field is empty. Go through each section, check for any row where you selected a category (especially under Other Sources of Income or Deductions) and look for an unfilled descripttion box below it. Fill in at least one character in every such field, then run Validate section by section until each shows OKAY, then proceed to Calculate Tax. Before re-uploading, it also helps to cross-check your AIS against your 26AS so you are not caught by a data mismatch later.

Our [pre-ITR AIS verification guide](https://taxgarden.in/resources/ais-health-checker-pre-itr-verification-guide-india) walks through the full pre-filing check.
