EPF terminal benefits

I retired last year in superannuation and submitted my tax return today. As the EPFO final settlement amount did not come up I have not specifically included that in my return. Though it is fully exempt income, is it mandatory that I withdraw my return and resubmit that? Where to declare that and claim exemption?

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses whether it's mandatory to include EPF terminal benefits in a tax return, even though they are tax-exempt. The consensus is that while not strictly mandatory, it's advisable to declare them. If missed, taxpayers can revise their return before the December deadline to claim the exemption and avoid any potential issues.

No need to worry for missing the exempted income. You have alternative to revise the return till End of December, once you get the final settlement.

Thanks Sir. But not including this will cause any problems or penalty?

No question of penalty as the income is tax exempt...
