I retired last year in superannuation and submitted my tax return today. As the EPFO final settlement amount did not come up I have not specifically included that in my return. Though it is fully exempt income, is it mandatory that I withdraw my return and resubmit that? Where to declare that and claim exemption?

No need to worry for missing the exempted income. You have alternative to revise the return till End of December, once you get the final settlement.

No question of penalty as the income is tax exempt...
