Entitlement of Sec. 80 C of It act

Section 80 C of IT act covers the Life Policies taken on the life of " CHILD " of the individual. In this connection, I would like to know weather " CHILD"  includes grand child also. Is there any case law on the subject.

Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the eligibility for deductions under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act concerning life policies. It confirms that deductions are available for policies taken on the taxpayer, their spouse, or their children. However, the section does not explicitly include grandchildren, and therefore, policies taken on grandchildren are generally not eligible for this deduction. No specific case law is required as the section's wording is considered clear on this point.

Incase of an individual, deduction is available in respect of policy taken in the name of taxpayer or his/her spouse or his/her children.
grand child is not considered in 80c
No case law required when section clearly provides deduction eligibilty.
