Hi, I am a CA student and planning to pursue CPA after completing CA. I havn't taken any graduation courses till now. As I came to know that 120-150 hrs of credit in accounting is required to be eligible, will CA suffice the requirement?? If not then will IGNOU-ICAI special scheme or any other distant edu course??

Hi Tanay,

Yes, a CA is eligible to write the CPA US qualification, either at the US or in UAE. You should be looking at planning for the qualification backwards for the purposes of enrolment. Usually, 8 months' study is a decent time to write the CPA examinations

For specific information on CPA, you can mail your questions to priyank @ crestscore.com or visit www.avcls.com, a Becker Partner for CPA in India.

As for CPA eligibility, you need 120 credits to appear for the CPA exam and 150 credits for the CPA license. General rule: Every year of university education in India is equivalent to 30-semester credits of US education. Some state boards award credit for international professional qualifications like CA. For international CPA candidates from India, generally 3-year commerce graduates from NAAC A universities who have scored a 1 st division are awarded 120 credits.
