Also try in different browser.
itr 1 is now itself late and involves penalty as per slab rate. my humble advice is wait for a week to allow itr with audit requirement to be filed and upload itr 1 with penalty.
you can file return using a tax cloud service, even when Income Tax site is down, you can download your acknowledgement once site is functional...that's what I usually do at last moment as it is quick and easy to use Income Tax software
