Quick Summary
If you've moved to Australia and are earning a salary there, your tax obligations in India depend on your residential status. Generally, if you are considered a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) for the relevant financial year, income earned outside India, such as salary in Australian Dollars from an Australian employer, is not taxable in India. You may not need to declare this foreign income on your Indian tax return.

Is he earning salary income in Rupees or Australian Dollar?

All would depend upon the residential status (resident or non resident) of the assessee.

Earning in australian dollar

Employer is Indian Company or Australian?

Australian company

What is your residential status as per Indian FEMA act or IT act? (for FY 2020-21)

The client stayed there all year.

As per your statement, the client would be Non resident Indian; hence any earning or income earned outside India, is not taxable in India. Even if he files ITR in India, for any income (other than the said Salary income) earned or accrued in India, he need not declare this salary income in the ITR.

If the person status is NRI in relevant financial year, then not taxable in india. In other case yes.
