E invoicing is compulsory in case of certain kind of assesses where the invoicing has reached to a certain extent value wise.
1. Yes. e-invoice can be generated after 24hours from generation of commercial invoice from the entity's ERP. But nowadays most of the customers demand for e-invoice when they are aware that suppliers are liable to e-invoicing. Because without IRN, an invoice is not considered as a valid invoice and it may adversely affect recipient's input tax credit claim.
2. Yes. Practically e-invoice can also be generated after generation of e-way bill. In that case during movement of goods, the transporter has to carry ERP generated invoice along with e-way bill.
As per Law if E-invoice is applicable to you , then as per Rule 48(5) of CGST Act, the valid invoice to supply is E-invoice.
