FY 2017-18, AY 2018-19. In a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the due date for filing of income tax returns has been extended from 31st July 2018 to 31st August 2018. (This is income tax return for the financial year 2017-18. Applicable for income earned from April 1st, 2017 to March 31st, 2018)

Highlights. The deadline of July 31, 2018, for filing income tax return for FY 2017-18 has been extended by one month to August 31, 2018. Unlike earlier years, a penalty of up to Rs 10,000 is leviable for filing income tax return for FY 2017-18 beyond the due date for most individuals.
