till not fixed but most probably DTC will be applicable in india from 1 april 2011, but everything regarding DTC and GSt will be known in this budget....i think so....wait for other friends replies....

Just concentrate on your studies, for Applicability of DTC and GST wait for ICAI notification.
From May,2012(not for may and nov.,2011 exams)
DTC will be effective from April 2012 and hence can be asked only in May 2013 and not earlier under any circumstances because the Finance Bill is implemented for one full year and not for half year.
As regards with GST only GOD and Shri Pranab Mukherjee knows when it will be implemented. Am sure =it will not be implemneted as on 1/4/2011 and definately is likely to be implemented in May 2012 along with DTC.
so till nov 2012 u can study income tax act 1961 and service tax and vat tillur heart content.
