Document for Address Proof??

Dear Members,

I am going to apply for Service tax registration of a company? I want to know that which document for address proof be submitted? Is Form 18 is sufficient for address proof? Also Please let me know the different document for address proof we can submitted?

For Local/Single Registration :-

(1) Copy of PAN card of the assessee.

(2) Proof of the address of the premises to be registered/copy of telephone bill. Electricity bill. Rent agreement in the name of the company or in the name of proprietor/ partner/firm in the case of proprietary or document accepted by any of Central/ State Government Department e.g. i.e. Income Tax. Sales Tax. Registrar of Companies DGFT or passport in the case of address.

(3) In case of partnership firm: Copy of Partnership Deed.

(4) In case of companies: copy of Memorandam of Association.

For Centralized Registration

For Centralized registration in addition to the above documents. The proof of address in respect of each of the premises/branch for which centralized registration is sought for should be furnished in fine with the descripttion mentioned at 2(2) above.

Dear Ramesh, thanks for ur response, In case of company can form 18 is accepted or not.. Can we submit Bank statement also??

Its fact and strange to see that the service tax deptt is not accepting Form - 18 as address proof of the Company for the purpose of registration.

Bank statement accepted by dept.

form 18 is form of submission to ROC, its not a bonafide document evidencing presence of company at specific address, you can use telephone / electricity bills,

as form 18 is also conveyed to bank, so u can obtain bank letter regarding address, that would suffice the purpose.

Dear Sharmaji,

Just two days before I had submitted Excise Registration Certificate as address proof but the service tax department did not accept it as address proof.

How can the Income tax ,Saletax Registrar wilol be acccepted.

Local Salestax RC is a valid document and acceptable to service tax department.

Is bank statement allowed as adress proof in case of proprieter

yes bank account is a bonnafide proof of address,

unable to understand, that when any business identity is establish , then before service tax there are couple of other registrations also, viz, Trade licence (certificate of establishment from local municipal body), Profession tax enrollment ( from commercial tax office of your city) and above all rent receipt or tax bill coz without address any business can not be established. so any of these documents evidencing that the assessee is established on the address is enough.

reg Central Excise regn certificate, the same is a bonafide document but as the RC is issued by same department, they insist on any other document which is not issued by cbec.
