Do i require a gst number of i start a trading business?

I am a student and i want to start garment trading business.
Many are saying the i dont need gst number but how will i get the goods without gst from the manufacturers.
I only have my aadhar,pan and voter card.
How should i proceed.

the thing is you cant claim ITC

tell ur supplier to issue invoice as to unregistered person so that u will pay gst and u can't claim gst as u need not file gst returns so no further gst payable and if ur turnover exceeds 40 lakhs then u should go for gst Registration

if above 20 laks per year hv to obtain gst reg. no prob in getting goods even if u r unregd.

ok well I'll receive the goods as unregistered.
But what if i sell the goods how will i sell it? if the buyer wants original invoice

If your buyer is also registered then only he can ask you about GST Invoice, otherwise you will provide invoice without charging GST to unregistered or normal client.

if ur buyer asks you invoice tell him that I won't collect gst from u so u can't claim it back and if he is registered he should pay under reverse charge basis as u r unregistered supplier

But i have to provide invoice for transportation of Goods otherwise i can be termed as illegal

You can issue a document named "BILL OF SUPPLY" for your supply which contains all the information as in "TAX INVOICE" except GST Number.
