Director appointment

In my view, Form 32 needs to be filed only in case of appointement and resignation,so i think that you should first file form 32 for resignation from post of whole time director and then appoint him as a director. 

I May be wrong , so more Expert views are welcome

Procedure as explained by you is not correct.

File form 32 for change in designation from Whole Time director to Director.

In form 32 date of change of designation is the date of meeting when the resolution is approved for change in designation to director.
