DIN registration process for NRI

For application of DIN (Director Identification Number) in Form DIN 1

  1. Full Name (First, Middle & Last name. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, India does not allow abbreviated names)

2. Father’s Name (First, Middle & Last name. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, India does not allow abbreviated names)

3. Date of Birth

  4. Passport Number

  5. Present & Permanent residential address

6. Mobile Number

7. Email id

8. One (1) Passport Size photograph

9.   Verification / Declaration to be duly filled & signed by the applicant (Please mention your full name in the said Declaration).   

    Proofs (1 copy each) (IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE ONLY. In case its in another language, then the same needs to be translated by the notary public of home country))

  1. Address Proof:- Any 1 of the following 

(i)   Copy of Electricity Bill (SELF ATTESTED)

(ii)  Driving License (SELF ATTESTED) 

(iii) Bank account Statement

  (iv) Passport (only if it mentions the present residential address) (SELF ATTESTED)

(v)  Telephone Bill (SELF ATTESTED)  

(Make sure that all these are not older than 1year & that the full name appears in the documents as mentioned above. The documents with abbreviated names WILL NOT be accepted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, India.)  

2. Identity Proof:- (IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE ONLY)

(i)        Copy of Passport - MANDATORY DOCUMENT & should be SELF ATTESTED

(ii)       Copy of Birth Certificate, if available - SELF ATTESTED  

P.S. - the documents provided as Identity & address proof HAS to be notarized by the Notary Public of the Home Country of the applicant   

 

Queries on filling the DIR 3 ( address section)

We are in process of appointing an NRI director who is currently residing in India , but while inputing data into DIR 3 form , we are not able to input the indian address. Is there any other method to input the indian adddress?

Common Causes Of Rejection

  The Name should be expanded even if the ID proof contains the name in abbreviated form.

  Any mismatch in Name, including spelling mistake, may lead to rejection of application. Minor spelling deviations in the father’s name may be accepted, if such deviations do not materially impact the name.

  Prefixes like Mr. / Ms. / Kumari / Shri etc. used in the applicant’s name

• 4

  Residence proofs like: Bank Statements, Electricity Bill, Telephone Bill, Utility bills etc. submitted are older than 2 months of submitting the application for verification OR such documents are in the name of some other person, for example father or spouse.

  If the seal/ stamp does not contain membership/ practicing certificate number, same may be recorded by hand.

  Only such documents which are currently valid should be attached.
