Most of the items on display right now in the 'Popular Discussion' column are, in my opinion of acedemic interest. So why simply pressurise Admin for a change ??

Unnecessary fuss need not be created.

But Admin should ensure that no post that deserves attention but hasn't received any, is left out from the 'Popular Discussion' column simply because it has no replies to it. .

At the outset, I would thank Arun and all the members, especially Surendra Sir, for sharing their honest ( I take it that way) opinions on the subject of discussion. It is apparent that everyone here loves CCI and they want to perfect it .

To my perception, the topic contains two undercurrents of thought :

1. A serious student fails to notice the important study-related topics in the jungle non-study-related trash. S/he, therefore, is losing a great opportunity to improve her/his knowledgebase.

2. There is a need to change this equation - High viewers = Popular Discussion in CCI.

From the main points of discussion, it also seems to me that THE MOST IMPORTANT part of CCI is THE FORUM section. Please consider the following banner :

Let us suppose, that there is a new SERIOUS entrant who, like the Arjuna of Mahabharata [ that serious student will know about his qualities only if it was in his academic syllabus, till studied ] can see his Goal ( CA,CS,CMA,MBA or any such Professional course ) and nothing else.

Now, let us think, - what is the probability that this live-for-studies-die-for-studies student will look beyond the Experts sec., Articles Sec., Files Sec. and all those other sections that deals with study related things? Surely enough, s/he will give a cursory look at the Forum Section as well, because that's a problem of human nature ( assuming that our model student is a HUMAN being ). But he will surely reject this section seeing that it mostly contains non-study-related trash.

If s/he becomes regular to CCI and finds that in the jungle of trash infested Forum section, there comes some occasional study-worthy topic, then her/his prudence would guide him to use the Search button for her/his topic of interest OR s/he would eye through the Forum section and the Popular Discussion section and notice if there is anything that may make her/him more erudite.

So, we may safely conclude that a serious student will never get distracted by unwanted hindrances towards her/his motivated, goal-oriented endeavour. God bless her. God bless him.

For the lesser mortals, who indulge in time-killing endeavours like frequenting the Forum Section and looking for a top place in the Popular Discussion tab, it may be said that it is their choice. CCI has got aplenty from where a mature student ( we are, to some extent mature. Aren't we?) can benefit. Can Admin or anyone force a member to do what s/he chooses to do?

For long, we have been socialised to be policed in the case of decision making. That's why, here I find the onus of making things straight has been laid upon the Admin - here the controlling authority. Why can't we make independent choice and reject what seems nothing else than rubbish - if there is one.

So long as the word POPLULAR is retained, topics that interests most will find a place in it - that may or may not be connected with academics.

At any event, motivated students like you, Dear Arun, should not have wasted so much of your time for this topic. Ankur Ji ( Both A.Garg and A.Pandey), Surendra Sir and others who have reached their goals can debate over topics like this. But you are in the CA Finals !!! Don't let your concentration get distracted by such triffles. Put all your energy into making your future as glorious as possible.

Best of luck.

P.S.  -  Business Ethics/Human Ethics demand that while raising an objection to anything in a public forum we refrain from pinpointing a person or her/his work by name.

@ Sourav Banerjee sir,

I agree to each and every point on your comments but my heart is finding very difficult to accept/digest that highlighted point on your comments.

Sir do u mean to say that one should participate in the discussion/ debate only after he /she achieves their goals...            ( CA/CWA/CS)

is it so that if some comment are made by some qualified and experienced members then they are always right? and vice-versa ?

I am sorry, What I want to say here is complete out of topic... Arun ji, you have amazing skills of asking questions, the way you are asking members on other members's comments, and finding a new question in replies, for this moment, I am remembering primetime TV News Reporters, Arnab Goswami (TimesNow), Rahul (Headlines Today), I must say, really you have the capability, what a Reporter should have.. . may be, India may get an sachha Reporter. Arun, its an advise to you, to think about it, if not now, atleast after CA, I am saying it honestly.. and here members are there to get and to share knowledge, and there is no obligation to them, to reply the queiries... Right Arunji...

Dear Arun,

My point is, you being a serious student, should refrain from engaging yourself to such topics that contain varied viewpoints and are generally inconclusive in nature. 'Inconclusive' it is and it can be seen from the sheer number of responses this thread has got; -  for some, your point is valid, for some it is not valid, and still for others it is partially valid or invalid. I'm sure that chances are very slim that a true consensus will be reached upon in near future. Hence, I wrote the highlighted portion - which is my of conveying best wishes to you. There was a point of time when I used to get into such debates that would seem to be eternal. And only I know, how much of my precious time had been wasted that way. But if I were to engage in such activities at my present state of being, it would not have been that detrimental to my career. I forgot - A stich in time saves nine.

Through your ' Admin'-related posts ( if I remember correctly, there are three till date ), you have raised some very valid points. And I heartily appreciate your efforts, as you know - especially the CS one [ and that one was a conclusive-type-of topic, for reasons you can understand ]. But there is a point where all, willy-nilly, have to stop. Otherwise, a major part of your positive energy will be wasted. Just wait a while to see if any changes are made as per your suggestion and in case you see nothing has happened, contact Admin directly and share your views. In this way, you will be saving much of your time and energy. As you now very well understand, my primary concern is the wastage of time - not only for you but also for all the students who are engaged in this logic - counter-logic thing. And also please don't forget that the topic has never completely left your mind till you initiated it. Now, you can understand the basis of my concern.

Right from the start of the evening, for the first time since my joining here, I've seen only study-related topics being displayed in the Popular Discussion Section. Now, that for me, is an effort to honour your standpoint. As an initiator of the topic, I think you should feel contended for this change. Will it be always like this? Should it be always like this? Any answer will spark a fresh set of views.

Best of luck. Waiting for the day when you will change your profile name to CA ArunKumar, just like Ayush did in the first month of this year.

God bless you.

Whatever is the matter of the discussion; it becomes interesting and important from various angles  :

.

1. It increases rapo between the participants if taken positively.

.

2. It increases communication skills which really help in public life.

.

3. It gives life to old ideas.

.

4. It gives new thought  process to be developed  in near future when someone surrenders himself in arguments.

.

5. Team work is built automatically.

.

6. It gives recognition even if one fails to put his ideas in perfect manner.

.

7. The person is remembered more who puts either wrong questions and/or present wrong answers.

.

The discussion must go on....

.

( There are so many debates on TV by so many experts on cricket, political issues, hero-heroines and so on.....for public nothing is so useful....but still public like it.  Why ? Because it is interesting ).

.

CACLUB is unique in every respect as members feel it like a family and in family; sometimes elders are forced to mould themselves according to the changed circumstances.

.

If they don't change; families are broken ( as we are experiencing now in India ).

.

But redundant articles and forums on the same issues for hundred times; presented in the same style and wordings, copy paste from here and there, gettings thanks on "old" ideas presenting like these are "new" one....etc.etc..will not increase the utility of the site nor it will develop the abilities of the participants.

.

I am never against anything which is useful from any point of view....

.

I just predicted that this thread is also in the race of POPULAR DISCUSSION and it really happened. This was light humour from my side which was taken seriously......I also wrote in second posting....one should not restrict his laugh to the laughing club only...... in laughing club your laugh is not original ! There you do exercise to laugh and it is useful for those who can't laugh publicly.

.

One important issue which remained undiscussed and never pointed out by others :

.

I ask one question : -

.

Whether an expert be allotted only 3 points when the answer is in detailed format and really very useful.

.

Anyone can check that sometimes answers given to queries are much more important than the articles published at caclub.

.

Half a page article published is allotted 100 points and the expert gets only 3 points for the good answer. In a forum; desite good discussion; a single run ( point ) is allotted.....( Single Run To Bowler Khud Hi De Sakta Hai....No Ball Dal Kar ).

.

Ye Kaha Ka Nyay Hai....?

.

Ek Taraf Centry aur Doosare Ko  Four ya  Six  bhi Nahi !

.

If we wish to retain "real" experts at site; they must be properly rewarded....not on the basis of thanks or points......but on the basis of the quality which can be easily judged by the Admin.

.

They can award BONUS POINTS when quality is marvellous.

.

And tell me; who is not happy with the BONUS ?

.

( Note : I have been able to get one point on the above discussion ).
