Automatic Conversion Process: When Tally.ERP 9 is installed in the existing Tally 9 folder then all the files with .tcp extension which are included in the Tally.ini file are automatically converted to the Tally.ERP 9 compatible format. The original .tcp file is renamed as <filename>.tcp.BAK. The name of the file which is converted to new format is same as the original filename. The original TCP file is retained as a backup file.
Manual Conversion Process: To manually convert the file to the Tally.ERP9 format use the Tally Admin Tool.
Steps to convert the files using Tally Admin Tool:-
-
Open TallyAdmin.Exe available in the Tally.ERP9 folder.
-
Select the Conversion Tab.
-
In the File Type box, select the TCP [Tally Compliant Product] format
-
In the Source File box, specify the name of file to be converted.
-
In Destination File box, provide the name for the converted file.
-
Press Convert Tab.
Tally Admin Tool will give “Conversion Successful” message after successful conversion.
Note:
-
Tally Admin Tool will give “Conversion Failed” message if the TCP is a not valid Tally9 compatible TCP file. Use Tally72migration.exe for migration if it is a Tally7.2 compatible TCP file.
-
Text files can be directly attached to Tally.ERP 9. Migration is not required.
-
Start Tally.ERP 9 and check the status of your TDL file. [Go to Gateway of Tally, click F12:Configuration > TDL Configuration] If the status is Active, then the tdl is compatible to Tally.ERP9 format. If the status is Error, then scroll down to the line and press enter to know the details. Then make the TDL syntactically compatible as per the Tally.ERP 9 standards.
