there are no minimum balance required for open demat account.
Brokers or banks charge about Rs.1000/- for opening a demat with CDSL or NSDL. U may have to pay AMC of Rs.500/- too
AMC of 250 to 1000 only required, chek your dp for charges no opening fees except stamp fees of 100/-
It is differ from broker to broker. some open demat account at free of cost
