Quick Summary
This discussion guides you through responding to a Section 234F demand notice for AY 2020/21 on the new Income Tax portal. If you've already paid the late filing fee when filing your belated return, you should disagree with the demand. Log in to the portal, navigate to 'Pending Actions' > 'Response to outstanding demand', and select 'Disagree'. Clearly state that the late fee was already paid and provide challan details as supporting evidence. The officer will then review your response.

Kindly follow below steps:

Login to your income tax portal. Under pending actions tab there is an option called "Response to outstanding demand". Once you click on that option you will see the said demand entry. Also an option will be there to place response to the said demand by either agreeing or disagreeing with the demand. If you disagree, you need to mention the reason. Once you complete with that you can submit your response which will get forwarded to the concerned officer, who would verify and initiate further action.

234F-Late for,belated Filing.

pay as tax on regular assessment & agree with the demand in the portal,if it is right.
IF THE DEMAND IS LEGITIMATE PAY THE AMOUNT OTHERWISE SUBMIT RESPONSE TO THE OUTSTANDING DEMAND.
Late fees u/s 234f was paid at the time of filing the belated return,so there is no tax due at present.what to respond now?

As mentioned in first reply in the chain, keep response in "Response to outstanding demand" saying that you disagree with the demand as late fee was already paid. Supporting the same you can mention in reason, challan information as well.
