i have recd a notice u/s 143(1) demanding an amount regarding tds deducted which is already appearing in 26AS in govt site which i have claimed while filling the return but they have not assumed it.. what i do.. should i make the payment or is there any way to prove it that amount deducted is appearing already in 26AS..? the date of making payment i.e within 30 days of receiving the letter is also over..
the tds is regarding tds deducted in respect of amount recd for redemption of deep discount bond....

If the amount is appearing in form 26AS,then you just need to request for rectification of return.
you need to log in to your account on the income tax portal and follow the steps mentioned below:
1) Go to E-file tab
2)Select rectification option
3) Portal will ask you the reason for rectification .There are three options
4)As in your case the error is TDS nit being considered ,you need to select 'Tax credit mismatch only '
Thereafter the return would be processed again and demand would drop

In rectification option under e-file tab, first it is being asked about request type "return data correction (XML)" and "only reprocess the return" .. what to be choose here?
You can choose only reprocess the return but before that ensure that you have entered the correct TAN number in income tax return ...if not you need to file a revised return and enter the correct TAN number
Means first i will have to revise the return and then proceed to make rectification as you have mentioned above..?
Kindly go to rectification tab ,choose Return data correction andproceed.They will ask you the details of intimation received (CPC communication number )and AY as well.Once you proceed,you can fill in the correct details and validate
