Quick Summary
If you have a tax demand showing under section 143(1) because your employer didn't remit TDS, and you can no longer contact them, don't worry. The key is to obtain your TDS certificate (Form 16) or salary ledger showing the deduction. If you have these documents, you can file a rectification petition with the tax authorities. If not, you'll need to request them from your former employer. Resolving this demand is important, especially if you need to file Form 10E.

The most important point is whether you have the TDS certificate with you or not. If you have the same, file a rectification petition U/s 154 along with the copy of TDS Certificate. If you do not have the TDS certificate, ask your employer to provide you with the same. Or, ask for even a salary ledger in which deduction of TDS has been reflected. If the TDS amount is large, you can file a criminal case against the employer company.

I m govt employee. i was at different school at that time. and deductor is also changed. i have only 16 no and itr acknowledgement.
I have to file 10 e this year .. will there any problem with 10e if demand persists?

Please provide details of your case in my e-mail I.D. raghavsbp @ gmail.com so that a more accurate opinion can be given

Once you furnish the documents to your AO about TDS, then there will not force or pressure from Department to recovery of demand. You can try out with employer about TDS and its payment to Govt so as to get credit of TDS allowed in your ITR.
