Demand of ca professionals

Hi

Some days before i was worried about my career as a ca because i had heard that campus placements orgnised by icai are not getting good response by industry and desired result. As a ca student, i was thinking to join another course or to apply for Govt. jobs. Today I received a booklet from a famous ca coaching institute. It states " On 1st April 2011 total numbers of CA's in India were 1,70,610 whereas demand is in millions." I am not a qualified ca but just a student. I am little bit nervous about my career choise. Am i right or wrong?

Hey Brother what ever you read in that article is correct...the demand of Ca 's in our economy is much more thn that of its supply..but look other factors are also important to considerd as financial environment ,inflation  or industrial trends....but still that is for sure that a Ca will never loose its important...so being a student i think we shd only think about studies..as before being in such situation we have to become a CA  first...so dont worry be happy n enjoy this journy...

Mr. Mohit, you are right. we should concentrate on study and get degree first.

But i request Icai to increase the limit of stipend given to students under article ship training upto Rs. 3000.

And it will be a welcome move from icai if it fixes the lower limit  of salary to a fresh CA @ Rs 40000 per month or more.

It will provide dignity and feeling of security to present and future ca's. It is also necessary due to incresing dearness and inflation.

Yeah Right but we can only request & nothing else can be done much about it....the only way out is to clear as soon as possible n look for the oppertunities...all the best brother...

I think rather than controlling results,ICAI should focus on quality of students that are sitting in Campus placements. As companies come to recruit a CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT,they must be having some set standards in their minds, which I guess we people are not able to fulfil. This thing was told to me by an HR personnel from our client Jaiprakash Associates Ltd,who recruited from ICAI campuses all over India in 2009-10,but since then they have been resorting to off campus placements.

On our resumes,we flaunt our 3 years articleship, but only we know how much exposure we get there and how much we work. These 3 years should be after finals to avoid dummy articles and less work. But ICAI will not do this as it will lead to removal of Rs 1500 workforce entirely from the market.

I am agree with you that 3 years articleship should  be after getting degree. But only it will not enough. We need broad changes in ca course structure.

1.We need some practical exposure in real working conditions with corp. companies instead of under ca's. We can get there salaries instead of stipend ( ! ) with actual experience.

2. There should be more inovative steps like communication skill improvement, English improvement, Industry knowledge development and so on.

3. Instead of being all rounder, we should focus on expertisation and core competency.

But we can't do more than just discuss.
